Sound problems
Crackles, pops or stuttering sound
Your phone needs a bigger audio buffer. Open Groove and scroll to the bottom to Audio buffer. Move the Buffer slider higher, for example from 40 ms to 60–80 ms, and press Apply buffer. A higher buffer gives smoother sound with a tiny bit more delay; a lower one feels quicker. Applying stops playback for a moment, and your sound settings stay.
If it still crackles: close other apps, turn off battery saver, lower Chord density, and use less reverb and delay.
I can't hear anything
Turn the phone's media volume up (not the ringer) and tap a chord once. Phones only start sound after a first touch. Also check Mix, where each part has its own fader.
The sound is muffled or too bright
Open Patch/FX → FX and move Master Tone at the bottom: lower is warmer and darker, higher is brighter. Each sound also has its own Tone slider on the Patch page.
I can't hear my melody over the chords
Open Mix and push Keys up and Synth down. A little reverb or delay on the Keys (FX sends) also helps a lead stand out.
Lead mode doesn't change my sound
Plucked sounds, like a harp or a pluck, fade out by themselves, so holding the note can't keep them going. Lead mode makes a difference on sounds that sustain, like Festival Lead or Flute Lead.
Playing & groove
Chords keep playing
Latch is on. Tap the playing chord again, or turn Latch off.
The arp or strum doesn't start
They play while a chord is held or latched. Check that they're switched on in Groove, and that Chords on is on.
My chord changes come late
That's Latch sync waiting for the beat. Tap a little earlier, choose a shorter value like ⅛ note, or set it to Off. See the Groove guide.
Saving, devices & updates
Where is my work saved?
On your phone, inside the app. Nothing is uploaded. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it, so export important progressions as MIDI.
Does it work on tablets and foldables?
Yes. The layout adapts, and on squarer screens piano mode shows the chord wheels on top.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Chord Circuit is for Android phones and tablets (Android 8 or newer).
Which version do I have, and how do I update?
The version number is at the bottom of the Groove page. Updates come automatically through Google Play.
I joined the beta but can't install the app
It can take a little while after joining the Google Group before Google Play lets you in. Make sure you used the same Google account for the group and the Play Store, wait a bit, and try the tester link again.
